Newt Gingrich defends Marriage

“Well, my stance hasn’t evolved. I observed in December that we’re faced with realities that are different than my personal beliefs,” Gingrich, a former House Speaker, said on CNN. “I believe as the Bible teaches, marriage is between a man and woman. I actually think that marriage is between a man and a woman no matter what politicians decide. I don’t think they have the power to change what is a religiously inspired definition.”

On March 15, 2013, Newt Gingrich spoke on CNN as a real man and not as a politician. Despite his personal desires, Mr. Gingrich spoke from his heart what he believes to be true.  The Bible states the definition of marriage. We should note from the teachings of the Bible, this definition was not made in haste.

In Genesis, Chapter 2, starting with verse 18, God knew it was not good for man to be alone.

Verse 19 says God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to man to name.

Verse 20 says of all the beast and fowl a compatible companion was not found for man.

Verse 22 says from the rib of man God made woman.  Note that God did not name woman, he brought the living being to Adam, and Adam said she was compatible to him.

In verse 23 Adam said this is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.

In Verses 24 and 25 they are called man and wife.

The first man Adam, after much consideration chose woman ( Eve ) as the perfect mate for himself.  When a man and woman engage in sex they become one flesh because of compatible bodies.  Compatible bodies do not just mean having similar bones and flesh.

Genesis chapter 1 verse 27 says God made them male and female.

Verse 28 says God gave them his blessings and said to them be fertile and have increase.

Jesus tells us in Matthew 22:30 that marriage is an earthly event. In the resurrection they neither marry nor or given in marriage but are as the angels of God in Heaven.

I hope these are the biblical teachings Mr. Gingrich was referring to, but just did not have the time to go into.
